Regulation is a "rule or directive made and maintained by an authority." It is the action of keeping some content away from specific people e.g. children because it is not suitable. In addition this it is also the action of whether or not allowing the content to viewed in a specific area the being a country (where rules of what is seen, heard is very strict) or public areas where the message to some people could be disturbing e.g. having a poster of the result of smoking impacted the lungs outside a primary school it wouldn't be appropriate.  The teams who should be regulating should be experienced and well established companies who take everything into consideration. Digital technology is the softwares we use to create products in our case a Music Magazine and a Horror trailer. Before starting the course in AS we already had a idea of using digital technology because of the use of social media; when editing photographs etc we use editing skills to increase the contras of lower the saturation, so here we have a basic understanding of digital technology and in AS and A2 we explore this even further to improve our basic skills. Conventions are needed in any type of media because they have purpose, when following convention it can make your work successful because you are following guidelines to what in the past have made that type of media profitable. However sometimes they can also be broken which is a risk but in some cases for example casting an unknown actor for a huge film e.g. the hunger games could have let the film down however it did the opposite so it depends. In addition to convention making the films successful by following rules there is also audience expectation; conventions are repeated so the audience become used to stock characters, scenes or props for that specific genre. However when a media goes against the norm it now becomes original as it isn’t following the conventions but again can be a risk as the audience may not recognize or enjoy it because of the lack of audience expectation. My research and planning has developed immensely throughout the 2 years; by doing thorough and more detailed research and planning in addition I have also selected relevant information to help me improve my production, an example of this is when we were deciding on what Horror sub-genre we were going to use for our creation, we done research into the different sub-genres and how they have evolved over time and also researching which sub-genre was the most popular now especially with the target audience of young adults. Creativity Creativity is the making of the new and the rearranging of the old. In AS I created a music magazine and in A2 a Horror trailer and Horro poster with the the A2 project I was able to use the skills I had learnt from my creation of the music magazine. One of the skills I learn't from As was using the camera, for the music magazine I had to take a number different photo shoots to perfect the photographs for my magazine. So when taking the photographs for my Horror Poster I used the skills I gained from my first project which were lighting; getting the correct lighting to enhance the model and make the photograph stand out. I also was more aware of the camera settings flash/no flash, aperture, manual focus or automatic all in which helped me create improved photographs for my Horror poster. Representation  In the summer i created a Horror trailer called "Don't close your eyes". The representation in Horror films are very important because it is how we as the audience view the  Laura Mulvey’s theory is that because the most frequent cinema goers are male “The Male Gaze” has now become a norm which can now by certain people (Feminist) be seen as immoral. The theory is that women’s bodies are displayed on screen in films which the male viewer find pleasure from. However even though this gains pleasure from the male viewer it also forces the rest of the audience to see this male gaze through a heterosexual male view. Repetition of these signs become Horror genre conventions, however overuse results in taking away the signified meaning In trailers there is always the repetition of conventions because they are conventional, however a discounting factor is that they become boring and this leaves a negative impact on Horror financially and also leaves it with a smaller target audience. Barthes theory is denotation and connotation which are used constantly in the Horror genre; the meaning of denotation is the literal obvious meaning an example of this is a child is possessed however with the connotation which is the suggested meaning/ deeper meaning of the denotation in this example would be that the possessed child subverts the stereotype of children representing innocence, vulnerability and purity.
