How does narrative theory apply to the trailer analysed

How does narrative theory apply to the trailer analysed? The trailer I will be analysing  is BEDEVILED by Terror House. The theme for this Trailer I believe is possession because of the way in which the girl is acting in the trailer. Todorov's theory was the idea of Equilibrium, Disequilibrium and resolution. In terror house's trailer they use disequilibrium for the montage scenes which a typical for horror trailers to include this allows the audience to get the action part of the film which will interest them. The trailer was set in a non linear way which is shown in the montage of the film.  Comparing terror house's trailer to my summer one I believe I didn't used Todorov's theory correctly, our montage where scenes which were not filled with action they didn't intrigue the target audience. In Terror house they used Levi-Strauss theory in a different way; there isn't a defiant villain/hero or good and bad but in fact the protagonist herself is the ...

Trailer notes

HOW and WHY Trailers are structured in this way The non-diegetic sound that they use in Horror film trailers is used for a specific reason; the use tense music that builds up throughout the trailer to a point where it reveals the jump scare or the part of the trailer that hooks you to carry on and watch the film. If the clip had no background music the scenes that they show wouldn’t be as scaring and frightening, because there is no build up. In addition another convention of Horror trailers are the snap shots of scenes that are normally less than two seconds, the reason that they only show seconds of the shot is because one they don’t want to show you what happens in all; because then the film would be given away also the background music that is building up with the snap shots of the clips adds to the suspense and the conventions of Horror trailer. Furthermore as the trailer continues the snap shots that start to show on the screen becoming quicker and quicker until the las...

Use of Conventions in "The Cabin in the woods" - Themes and Sub-Text in "The Cabin in the woods"

Using your notes from class on sub-genre and Horror conventions, write a summary of HOW the film make interesting use of the conventions of Horror and Sub-genres you have studied In “The cabin in the woods” they used more than one sub- genre to make the horror film. One of the main sub-genres was zombie, the initial monsters were the zombies however this film combined the zombie sub-genre and the splatter sub-genre. The way the zombies were killing of the five main characters was suing the sub-genre splatter. The dumb blonde’s death was quite graphic with the zombie throwing the head of the girl (Jules) to the main protagonist Dana, who is the “virgin”. Two sub-genres become involved in this film which are supernatural and J-horror, the men in charge are creating chaos all around the world to making the people who are being attacked a sacrifice to the “gods”.  So there is a clip which shows what other countries are doing and one of them is Japan, it shows an aspects of the...
